If you are installing to a Serial-ATA Hard Disk then you may need a floppy disk containing the appropriate Serial-ATA drivers for your motherboard.

Quality motherboard manufacturers will supply a floppy disk with the motherboard for this purpose but, in some cases, it will be necessary to create a Serial-ATA driver disk using the CD that is packaged with the motherboard, or even download the drivers from the manufacturer's web site.

Turn on and Turn off Windows XP System Restore

Turn on Windows XP System Restore

1 Click Start.

2 Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

3 On the System Restore tab, uncheck Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.

If you do not see the System Restore tab, you are not logged on to Windows as an Administrator.

4 Click Apply.

5 When you see the confirmation message, click Yes.

6 Click OK

Restore the Hide Desktop Icons in Windows XP

Click Start, Run and type the following 
command:  regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32.dll 
The Show Desktop icon file should be available now. 

OR
You Can use next process for restoring desktop icons.
Click Start, Run, and type Notepad.exe. Copy the following contents to Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Why does user logon screen come up after standby mode in XP

From a security perspective, XP Pro should prompt for your password when coming off standby or hibernation mode. But if your workstation is at home or in a very secured location, to disable this important security feature:
Start the Power Options Control Panel applet
Start.
Control Panel.
Power Options.
Select the Advanced tab.
Uncheck the Prompt for password when computer goes off standby check box.
Click OK.
